What a smooth start to AFI Cape Town fashion week. Last night saw the unveiling of several new collections who seemed to be on the same page with colour trends. Since it has been months since AFI Joburg fashion week I have been looking forward to Cape Town, even if a few of the designers were in fact Joburg based.
Day one (day two technically) offered no menswear but I still thoroughly enjoyed watching the ladies collections. Abigail Betz, (who wasn't present) ended the night with a gorgeous, elegant line which mostly comprised of nude dresses, long with an ethereal quality. A real departure from her Jhb showing earlier this year.
I managed to snap a pic of a trio of editors sitting pretty like a styled campaign (Aspasia Karras, Sharon Becker and Neil Doveton) and had to share it. The entire evening was well organized and fun to reunite with many of the stylish people that make up South Africa's fashion scene. It was Gavin Rajah's insanely full showing (upstairs in the Ballroom of the CTICC) that pulled the best dressed but as you can imagine the madness was too much for my camera.
