California Fashion

The modernist California fashion designer Rudi Gernreich, visiting New York in 1970, remarked, "They are wearing their evening dresses during the day." Today full-tiered skirts are again sweeping Fifth Avenue. Designer versions are popping up at spring parties, some worn with wide leather belts, echoing the 1940's Mexican fiesta look.

Oh, the Awesomeness that is this post. I see a lot of gimmicky apparel as you can imagine but I rather enjoyed coming across this next one. It's called the Beardcap and it is exactly what you think it is. A beard, that is a cap. The beardcap refers to the traditional "lambshed-hood" which was used my farmers from Iceland who had to walk long distances in heavy snow-storms. Designed in 2005 this cap is made by Vík Prjónsdóttir with 100% Icelandic wool and is available in five different colours. Click here to get your very own beard. Photography by Gulli Már.

We won't all be lucky to end up like old Clooney here but there are a few ways to regain some of your youth with these easy tips!

World Fashion | Check out TopTen Wholesale Winter Fashion Favorites!

It’s getting close to the end of another decade in fashion, and the styles that we are seeing these days are certainly keeping up with the overall mood of global news… since it looks like everything surrounding the financial crisis and political re-shuffling that’s been going on has impacted nearly everyone in some way. Fashion seems to be taking a plunge into some distinctly military-themed apparel, as well as fresh ultra chic and glammy club-inspired gear. As a wholesale or retail specialist, what are you supped to do? It almost seems like there’s too much choice, and carrying something for everyone might not be the direction you’re trying to go in, unless you’re a drop-shipping powerhouse. For starters, try taking a look at our own search results page to see some examples of companies that offer great seasonal fashions at unbeatable prices! To see more ideas, check out,, and as well as a huge selection of general merchandise, apparel, accessories, gifts, electronics, handbags, jewelry, toys, and more!

In other words, the past few years of anything-goes seems to be coming to a head this year, and I reckon things will take a more decisive direction again, as soon as the news reflects more stability and predictability in everyone’s lives. This also means that you are going to have a lot of great options for selecting wholesale fashions and accessories for your cache of collectibles this year, because the emphasis will be on how you market the goods, not necessarily upon what you carry!

Plaid patterns will be part of the look this year!

Awesome, huh? Well, it might seem like shooting fish in a barrel at first… but if you don’t form a solid sales strategy based upon a foundation of fashion 101, you will be left with a dead inventory of overstock that looks more like the contents of every closet you’ve ever filled since you were five years old. Not so good. Let’s take a minute to look at what the fashionistas out there are talking about, and try to find the right line to follow this season as you Check out my quick list of TopTen Wholesale Winter Fashion Favorites!

First, take a look at some classics… designers like PRADA and D&G will always be respected for taking daring steps into uncharted waters, but the power of classic appeal is undeniable. Make sure you look closely at what Geoffrey Beene, Bill Blass, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Halston have on offer, because they are generally the ones to turn to for rock-solid classic style that doesn’t fade fast.

Now that you’ve made note of the classics, take a look at what else has made the list. This year, designs from J. Crew and Michael Kors have been noted as style picks by some, especially for those seeking a refined look.

The short dress was hot all Summer long, and it will continue to be a force in fashion through early Winter. Worn on its own as a breezy and light piece, or paired with leggings, jeans, and even layered with longer skirts and sweaters… well, let’s just say it’s not hard to promote an item like this one… especially since it usually holds at a price point that makes it attractive to wholesalers and online sellers.

Jeans will never die, and this year is no exception to the great run jeans have enjoyed for the past 50 years. While this season is leaning more towards glammy fashion on-the-go, jeans offer the easy way out for those who don’t have the time or energy to get dolled up. They also keep your shoppers coming back for more, since this is the one all-time favorite apparel item that is notoriously well-paired with accessories!

Dressed up, or dressed down… street chic is one of the driving forces behind fashion these days. With high-quality manicures and hair styles, it’s become the look of the decade to sport lower-end apparel with more glamorous shoes, bags, scarves, and other components that make the outfit shine. This is the ideal look to promote on your seller site, because it appeals to almost every demographic from the youth market, to the moms on-the-go!

BOHO-style is still around, even after hitting its peak around 2005. It’s an easy one to accessorize, and with all of the free-flowing fabrics and colors to choose from, it is easy to carry on your inventory as well.

Accessories rule! Hats, scarves, gloves, wraps, leggings, and other hot accessory items will be taking a large part of the order lists this year, as buyers try to keep their budgets under control. Once the core wardrobe has been built, many shoppers will be on the constant lookout for anything that adds variety to their existing gear. If you offer it, they will come to you!

That’s all for now, I hope you’ve enjoyed this little foray into the world of apparel and accessories, as we check out Topten wholesale winter fashion favorites! Don’t forget to browse the search results on our site, as you Find it. Source it. Profit!

Proud new papa of Harper Seven, David Beckham is said to add another venture to his list of achievements. While a fashion collaboration would make perfect sense to encapsulate his style (he is after all one of the best dressed celebrities in the world) he is going another route. In February 2012 David will join celebrities like Kate Moss and Madonna  to collaborate with a large design chain with his own range of H&M, but Beckham will focus on underwear. He is after all famous for those near-naked ads for Armani so the collaboration makes perfect sense.

The Guardian spoke to Simon Fuller, Beckham's business partner, who was also behind the successful launch of Victoria Beckham's fashion label, said the collaboration was an important step for the footballer. "H&M's enthusiasm and support for this venture, combined with their scale and reach, will continue to enhance the power of David's image around the world."

Would you buy your jocks from Becks?

Nikon digital camera at PMA 2009 Show : If there is one brand that has been performing superbly for the last year and a half, and even more important, has succeeded in standing out, it's Nikon. With an unparalleled battle concerning market share and a succession of new product launches, one success beaten by the other, Nikon has reached an extremely comfortable position. The introductions of the Nikon D3 and D300 digital SLR cameras were the start, and if you have followed last year’s developments, you will know how many Nikon imaging products succeeded after these two. Canon had to accept a big blow, which also had its effect in the professional world.

Nikon D3x digital SLR camera

Media offices and a large amount of professionals have switched over to Nikon cameras. That, and the giant sales figures of various Nikon imaging products, has largely influenced the market share of both brands. Naturally, a lot of interest went to Nikon's top product of the Nikon DSLR series; the Nikon D3x. It's an unparalleled high quality digital SLR for the professional, which has become a standard to serve as reference for the current generation of professional DSLR cameras. I will admit that the differences at the top gradually become smaller, but the recommended selling prices show larger differences. If you can afford the Nikon D3x, you will obtain a high quality tool that will pay for itself, depending on assignments and field of specialism.

Nikon Digital SLR cameras

Although the attention is drawn to the professional D3x, also the remaining Nikon DSLRs such as the D3, D700 and D90 can't complain about the amount of attention they are receiving. Nikon did not surprise at the PMA 2009 by introductions, but from experience we know Nikon is always quite stubborn in handling product launches. There's no logic to follow for the Western world in any case. One of the latest toys is the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 lens, a beautiful lens to use with the Nikon D700 DSLR for example.

Nikon Coolpix digital cameras

The Nikon Coolpix compact camera line-up is not yet that successful for Nikon, however, or at least; that has been the situation in the past few years. It gives you the feeling that the Coolpix and the Nikon DSLR are worlds apart. The contrast could hardly be larger. Where innovations and high quality techniques have been successfully integrated, Nikon doesn't seem to be able to stand out with the Nikon Coolpix series. The market share is meager and I can understand that. As a consumer, you'd generally purchase a Nikon compact camera with certain expectations of it. You purchase a Nikon for its quality, the expectations are high. However, if we take a look at the Nikon Coolpix assortment, we don't see that many cameras that stand out from the crowd.

New Nikon cameras

Take for example a camera like the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX3. It may not be a digital camera that processes high sales figures, but it is definitely a camera that knows how to stand out. A camera that is described many times with words like high quality, lens etc. I'd like to see this camera return in the P-series. And what's more, I do miss a compact megazoom camera with 10x optical zoom in the Nikon Coolpix camera line. A camera such as, again: the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ7. These are examples of rivals that do know how to differentiate, in which the Coolpix stays behind.

Things are looking good for this Senegalese model. Sacha M'Baye was the first male model of colour to appear in a Burberry campaign (this one) and work is just piling in. He is said to be studying economics even though his success as a model is taking off. Sounds like a bright man to me. Here he is for the D&G look-book shoot, obviously, by Mariano Vivanco.
